Day 12 of 30 days writing challenge
Love for TV
I love watching TV eversince I don't know when. But nowadays' local TV programmes are just full of tension (crimes, pandemic, wars, etc.) or crappy Indonesian drama (we call it sinetron) or talkshows. Used to have cables but it's getting too pricey so I stopped using it.
Talking about fave TV series, as today's topic, there're plenty that I surely fond of. It will be a super broad topic to talk about. I like so many different genres, so maybe I'll specify the time frame into what I like now.
Wuxia
Actually I'm always into this genre. Wuxia (武俠) literally means "martial heroes". Well, lately I've been watching remakes of Jin Yong's novels adaptations. My favourite series are the Condor Trilogy, specifically the third part. However, the second part was the most popular wuxia in our country, named "Return of the Condor Heroes". Maybe you've heard of it if your age is similar or close to mine. Lol.
Anyway, Just now, I'm doing marathon of Jin Yong's prequel series before (although not directly part of) the Condor Trilogy: Demi Gods and Semi Devils /Eight Books of the Heavenly Dragons (天龍八部).
The timeline of Jin Yong's wuxia itself revolved around period of Song Dynasty-Yuan Dynasty-early Ming Dynasty (960-1368 M).
What I love about Jin Yong's wuxia is the complicated relationship between so many characters and each of those characters have a strong traits or personality. And from any parts of the story, there are so many moral values can be learnt. Even the most evil character has his/her side of story, and some even can have a turnaround at certain point of his/her life. And most characters are driven by fate, some are started from a nobody but can turned into somebody 'by chance', because fate took him/her there.
Although it's a historical-fiction adaptation, a lot can be learned from it. Chinese culture is indeed really superb and full of life lessons. Too bad, the long history was wiped out and you can't really see the old glory anymore.
